The Light-Duty Transport wheelchair from Irie Mobility is compact, maneuverable, and easy to transport. This model is ideal for resort walkways, hotel corridors, airports, and smooth outdoor paths, and is not suitable for sand or uneven terrain.

Your wheelchair has been cleaned, inspected, and delivered, ready to use. Please follow these instructions throughout your rental.

This model is lightweight, maneuverable, easy to fold, and perfect to take along on your journey. Please review the following information before using the equipment.

Open the Frame Fully

Push down on the seat rails until the wheelchair “locks” into the open position.

Engage The Brakes

Before sitting, ensure both side brakes are engaged (locked). This is for your own safety .

Position Footrest

Unlock footrests and swing them forward until bpoth of them click into place.

Assisted Needed

This wheelchair cannot be self-propelled. It must be pushed by someone at all times.

⚠️  Always apply brakes before sitting, standing, or transferring.
⚠️ Do not stand on the footrests; they are not meant to hold your entire body weight.

 Daily Care & Maintenance 

To keep the equipment operating at its best, please avoid sand and saltwater exposure. This wheelchair is not designed for beach use, and sand or saltwater can damage the wheels, bearings, and frame. If the wheelchair comes into contact with moisture or splashes while outdoors, simply wipe it dry with a clean cloth to protect it for the remainder of your stay.

 Recommended Usage & Care Tips 

  • Wipe seat, armrests, and frame daily with a damp cloth as needed.

  • Dry the chair immediately after rain, spills, or moisture.

  • Clean wheels to remove dust, grass, or debris from resort walkways to avoid any buildup.

  • Store the equipment indoors or in a shaded area when not in use.

  • ​​Avoid seawater, pool water, or wet environments that may cause slipping.

  • Avoid prolonged moisture exposure.

 A Few Qucik Notes 

  • Tires are solid all the way through; no air needed/puncture-proof.

  • No lubricants are required.

 Terrain & Use Guidance

 Unsafe/Not Recommended 

  • Sand — ALL types

  • Grass (uneven/soft)

  • Rocky surfaces

  • Steep hills or slopes

  • Wet pool decks

  • Beaches or shoreline

⚠️  Never take this wheelchair onto sand or soft terrain. Solid rubber wheels and small casters are not designed for sand or loose terrain; they will sink, lock, or tip the equipment.

 Folding & Transporting 

Our Light-Duty Transport wheelchair is delivered fully assembled and ready to be used. Its lightweight frame and folding design make it easy to fold and load into vehicles. No tools or mechanical adjustments are needed for the delivered equipment. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us or submit a support request.

The delivered wheelchair does not require assembly; simply unfold it fully and follow the steps below for safe handling and transport.

Open wheelchair fully by pressing down firmly on the seat rails until the frame is completely opened, locked and stable.

Swing footrests forward and ensure they click into place.
Footplates must always be in the forward, safe position before use.

Preferably with assistance, sit in the chair using slow, controlled movement.
Ensure brakes are locked before sitting.

Unlock brakes

and begin movement slowly.
Push slowly and avoid bumps, cobblestones, or uneven transitions.

For transport, fold the inward from the seat. Once folded please store in a dry, shaded area away from water or sand to avoid damage.

⚠️  Never sit or transfer without first engaging the brakes.
⚠️  Always maintain control; wheelchairs can roll quickly on slopes or smooth flooring.

 Troubleshooting & FAQs 

Is the chair hard to push?

If using on a surface not compatible with the wheelchair, navigate to a different surface.

Are the wheels veering?

This can occur if there is a buildup of debris on the wheel or in the attachment points; clean for smooth usage.

Brakes not holding?

This can occur if the brakes are not fully locked. Double-check the brakes and firmly lock them for full performance. 

Footrests won't swing?

This can occur if the footrests are misaligned. Double-check aligned and re-swing.

⚠️ If the chair feels unstable or wheels wobble, stop using it and contact support.

 Do’s & Don’ts During Rental 

 Do's 

  • Lock the brakes before transferring.

  • Use on smooth paved surfaces. 

  • Push slowly over transitions.

  • Store in shade or indoors when not in use.

  • Always ensure you have a companion or loved one to push you around; this equipment requires 100% constant assistance to get around safely.

 Dont's 

  • Do NOT use on sand or exceed 285 lbs.

  • When you are being pushed, it should not be with significant speed. 

  • Do not use it as a seat for leaning backward.

  • Do not stand on footrests or attempt self-repair.

  • Do not use on hills or uneven terrain.

  • Do not attempt self-propulsion; the equipment is not designed for that.

 Report an Issue 

If your wheelchair develops an issue:
1. Stop using it immediately if catastrophic.
2. Move to a safe location if possible.
3. Submit a support request using the form below.
